The Parks European Day

UNPD representatives together with Monica Moldovan, the Head of Energy and Environment Department and Alexandra Ares, a communication officer as well honored the event with their presence.
The contest aimed at awareness rising in terms of preserving the natural special patrimony within the Macin Mountains National park, closely related to conserving and observing the tradition of the vicinity communities, yet emphasizing on the importance of UNDP/GEF project/ „Strengthening hte natural protected area system in Romania through the best practices of administering a protected area and the sorroundiung territories aswell a unei arii protejate şi a teritoriilor învecinate, wihtin the Macin Mountains National Park” forthe developing and promoting rthe local communitites in the vicinity of the Macin Mountains National Park.
6 teams of 5 members each, of various ages and professions and a coordinator as well, participated in this contest. The teams represented the following localities : Măcin, Jijila, Greci, Văcăreni, Cerna and Luncaviţa.
The participants made an impression through their liability and unfailingness of their training for all the 6 phases of the contest, managing to dar get over emotions, the contest celebrating the 5th edition. They proved themslef spontaneous and creative in presenting their customs and tradions, exciting the public with „Caloianului” dance, the Meglenean match-making, the white willow weaving, the „Paştaşutei” preparing, etc.
The jury nominated the winnnign team from Cerna village, JEICA tram. The next three places were occupied by the teams of Jijila (2nd place), Văcăreni (thisrd place), Greci, Luncaviţa and Măcin es well.
All participant were rewarded with prizes:tents, freezing boxes , rucksacks, badminton rackets, diplomas şi and brochures.
