History

The legal basis for the existence of the National Park is as follows:

 

  • Order 68 of MAPPM/26 January 1998 regarding the nomination of Macin Mountains National Park.

 

  • Law no. 5/ 2000 regarding the endorsement of the Plan for national territory planning – Section III – protected areas, specifies the protected area of national interest named Macin Mountains, located on position P, on a surface of 11.321 ha and situated entirely on the territory of Tulcea county.

 

  • Government Order 230/2003 regarding the borders of biosphere preserves, national and natural parks and the establishment of these ones, classifies the protected area Macin Mountains as national park and establishes the limits of this one in Annex 1, according to which the total surface of MMNP is 11227,11 ha.

 

  • Government Order 552/2003 regarding the endorsement of interior demarcation of national and natural parks resulting from the necessity for biodiversity conservation.

 

  • Government decision number 1529/1 Nov. 2006 modifies the boundary of the National Park by excluding from the area in the Pricopan Crest an area of 77.96ha, leaving a final area of 11149.15ha.
